Netherlands Partnership

WHY THE NETHERLANDS?

Can you imagine what the United States will look like spiritually in 10-15 years? The Netherlands is already there today. Despite working in a country with attitudes and lifestyles that would make Las Vegas blush, Agape (CCC’s college ministry) in the Netherlands is exploding as they (re)focus their efforts on the college campus and reach university students for Christ in their “anything goes” culture.

HOW DOES WEST MICHIGAN BENEFIT?

One of the reason we are partnering with the Netherlands is that we, in the USA, need to figure out how to reach American college students in our increasingly post-Christian culture. As much as the Dutch benefit from us praying, giving and going – we benefit from their insights on reaching a world that has already largely rejected Christ.

Another aspect is what happens in and through us when we go.  College students pray for the Netherland universities, travel to the Netherlands, talk to Dutch students about Jesus Christ, and experience their culture for themselves.  All of this opens the hearts and minds of our West Michigan university students to the whole.  We begin to see God’s heart for the world.  Our Spring Break, Summer-Long and other mission trips provide an experience that can not be duplicated by ‘study-abroad’ or vacationing because of what God does in the course of the evangelism and discipleship while in country.

Our college students return as changed people – more in tune to God’s heart and better prepared to minister back at home.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

1. PRAY

God is moving in the lives of university students in the Netherlands.  But we need to pray…

YOU CAN PRAY

Receive prayer updates and other info on what’s happening in the Netherlands on the college campuses through our Facebook Fan Page.

INVITE OTHERS TO PRAY

  • Invite your friends to join the Netherlands Partnership Facebook Fan Page.
  • Bring prayer requests to your Small Group and take a moment to pray for the college students and those ministering to them.
  • Get a section of your church’s bulletin to ask people to pray for this college ministry and the partnership.
  • Invite some friends over to pray for a half-hour to ask God to work in the hearts of university students to go from West Michigan, and to experience Jesus in the Netherlands.
  • Send an email or Facebook message or tweet or text message to your friends and family asking them to spend a minute to pray for college students here in West Michigan to bring the Gospel, and college students over there to heard the Gospel.

2. GIVE

GIVE TO A SPECIFIC STUDENT OR STAFF MISSIONARY

Do you know someone going to the Netherlands for Spring Break, the Summer or for a Year?  You can financially support their travel and living expenses so they can dedicate their time to reach Dutch college students for Christ.  You make a tax-deductible donation to a specific person’s missions trip here, just “add a comment” and include the name of the student or staff member you’d like to direct your giving to.

GIVE TO DEVELOP THE PARTNERSHIP

Our heart is to bring the Gospel of Jesus to the colleges and universities in the Netherlands.  And we need your help. Your financial gift will go towards increasing prayer and increasing participation in sending students overseas.  Our dream is to not let a lack of finances get in the way of exposing students to God’s heart for the World.

You can donate here to develop the college ministry partnership between West Michigan and the Netherlands.

3. GO

FOR A WEEK

Walk onto a college campus for a week on spring break. See what it’s like. Try doing evangelism, Dutch-style. Get a taste of the culture and life.

FOR A MONTH

Dive in and go on a Summer Project. Develop relationships with Dutch students. Have them see Christ in you. Have them hear about Christ through you.

FOR A YEAR

Be apart of the ongoing effort to see the Netherlands transformed, integrate into the fabric of Dutch life, live their for a year (or two) and get used to, not just leading someone to Christ, but build them up in their faith to walk deeply with God and see them lead their fellow peers to Christ. Sometimes referred to as “STINT”, which stands for “Short-Term INTernational”.

4. LIVE

Change the world for Christ with your life. Spend 4+ years living in Amsterdam or Rotterdam among the Dutch people –experience God in a way that happens only by leaving America for a while and trusting Him for big things like an entire country.
